Oliver McKinstry, AWI-CH has over a decade of experience conducting internal and external investigations. He is currently Senior Director of People Services at DaVita, a Fortune 200 healthcare company. He leads DaVita’s team of seven workplace investigators and DaVita’s wage and hour, mergers and acquisitions, policy, and unemployment functions within the People Services organization. Prior to joining DaVita, Oliver was a workplace investigator at a Fortune 100 aerospace and defense company. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and conducted external workplace investigations as part of his employment law practice at two Am Law 100 law firms. Before law school, Oliver spent two years teaching English in rural Japan. Oliver is AWI Certificate Holder and a member of the AWI Diversity Task Force and the Conference Committee. He looks forward to helping others find and hone their authentic voice in conducting investigations.

Eli Makus, AWI-CH is a Senior Partner with Van Dermyden Maddux Law Corporation. Eli has focused on helping resolve employment disputes throughout his legal career. After litigating disputes for many years and working as in-house employment counsel, his practice now focuses on conducting impartial investigations. Eli conducts and manages neutral, unbiased investigations on complex and sensitive matters. He is experienced in all areas of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability accommodations, protected leaves of absence, whistleblower claims, privacy, wage-hour compliance, and reorganizations. Eli is the current Vice President for the AWI Board of Directors. He also co-chairs AWI’s Training Institute Committee and regularly serves as Senior Faculty for AWI’s multi-day Training Institutes. Eli trains and speaks extensively on conducting workplace investigations. Eli has helped employers implement successful internal investigation programs and trained lawyer and non-lawyer investigators how to conduct thorough, prompt, and impartial workplace investigations.
